Marco Podda was born in Trieste, where he studied Medicine, gaining specialization in Otolaryngology and Phoniatrics. In parallel with his studies as Medical Doctor, he studied singing with Dietrich Schneider and Renée Jacobs, classic guitar with Ennio Guerrato, choral management with Hans Ludwig Hirsh and orchestral management with Donato Renzetti. Founder and director of the “Cappella Tergestina” Choral Ensemble, Marco Podda also directs “Schola Cantorum St. Eymard” and the choir “Kodesh Vechol Group”. He is phoniatric consultant for various Italian theatres. He is chair on “Anatomic-physiology of vocal communication” at the University of Trieste, holding annual, semestral and master courses on “Techniques for the vocal communication and sonorization”. During the recent years, he authored and co-authored many scientific publications relevant to spoken and sung voice, the vocal communication and musical metalinguistics. He carried out and currently develops an intense activity as composer: he composed instrumental music both for solo voice and with instrumental accompaniment, both for a cappella choir and for choir with instrumental accompaniment and with orchestra. He is also author of musical dramaturgy pieces as well as of musical micro-theatre. He has been honoured of many national and international prizes. His compositions are published and performed both in Italy and abroad and also recorded by publishers such as Carrara, Pizzicato, Audio Ars Studio, Erato as well as for the national RAI Italian network.
